In the wake of our recent loss, the family of the late Willie Dorrity would like to sincerely thank our relatives, friends, and neighbours for their kindness. To everyone who visited our home and attended the funeral, your presence and support provided great comfort during this difficult time.
We were touched by the many mass and sympathy cards, flowers, and kind messages we received across social media and by phone. We also wish to thank everyone who called to our home after the funeral to offer their condolences. A special word of thanks is owed to our neighbours and the local business community for their gifts of food, and to our Dorrity and Kelly relatives who worked tirelessly to coordinate the catering and stewarding during the wake.
We are deeply grateful for the exceptional care Daddy received from the doctors and nurses at Draperstown Surgery, district and community nurses, and the team at O’Kane’s Pharmacy. Our thanks also goes to the fantastic Marie Curie nurses and the One2One domiciliary care team, especially Eilish Sheridan, Shannon Donnelly, Shannon O’Rourke, Nicola Donnelly, Catherine McGuigan, and Sabrina Carter. Their dedicated support was a great comfort to us all. We are deeply grateful to all of Daddy’s past carers for the compassion and support they showed him over the years.
We would like to give special thanks to Anne Buwuid, Maureen O’Hagan, Cathy McGlade, Kathleen McGuigan, Paula Hegarty, and Mandy Neill for their dedicated care. We want to express our deepest thanks to Denise McGuigan for the kindness and care she showed Daddy throughout the years. We are so grateful to Chloe McAuley from Rutledge Healthcare Division for the wonderful personal care she provided to Daddy.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Fr. Paddy Doherty (PP), Fr. Kieran O’Doherty, and Fr. Hugh Lagan for their kindness and support, and for celebrating Daddy’s Requiem Mass with such a beautiful and meaningful service. Our gratitude also goes to Fr. Patrick Lagan, Fr. Peter Madden and Fr. Eamonn Graham for their presence and for the comfort of their prayers at our home.
Our heartfelt thanks goes to Daddy’s niece, Maureen Quinn, along with Katrina Shaw and Emily Kelly, for the beautiful music that added such a special dimension to the liturgy. We are also grateful to Gary of Devlin Media for his professional recording of the funeral Mass, and to the sacristan and Eucharistic Ministers for their assistance. Thank you to An Ràth Dubh for providing the equipment. Additionally, we would like to thank Blackhill Marquees and MFL Plant Machinery for their practical help in preparing our home for the wake.
We sincerely thank the students and staff of St Colm’s High School, Draperstown for providing a touching Guard of Honour which was a source of comfort to their colleague, Mary McIvor.
We are very grateful to Watty Graham’s GAC for the use of their facilities and for providing the post-funeral refreshments. A special thanks to all those who helped serve the food and looked after us so well.
We are especially grateful to Michael and Nicholas Gormley of J. A. Gormley Funeral Directors for their invaluable support. We truly appreciate the caring, professional, and dignified manner in which they handled all the funeral arrangements. Our thanks also goes to those who carefully prepared the grave.
We are indebted to so many people, and as it is impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgment as a token of our sincere appreciation.
Daddy was a loving, hardworking man who always had a smile for everyone. He lived a full life and achieved so much in his 95 years; he will be sorely missed by all who knew him. We take great comfort in knowing he is now reunited with Mummy.
Willie’s Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick’s Church, Glen, on Friday, 6th March at 7:30pm.
