The family of the late John O’Kane wish to express their heartfelt thanks and sincere appreciation to all those who sympathised with us during our recent bereavement.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended the wake, sent Mass and sympathy cards, attended John’s funeral, or shared messages of condolence. Your kindness and comforting words have been a source of strength to us during this difficult time. We also extend our sincere thanks to those who travelled long distances to be with us, and to our neighbours and friends who provided food, flowers, and practical support throughout the wake and funeral.
Our special thanks go to Father Paddy Doherty and Father Kieran O’Doherty for celebrating such a meaningful and comforting Requiem Mass, and for their spiritual support to our family. Grateful thanks also to Sally and Joe Bradley for their help, and to Una McGill for the beautiful singing and music.
We would like to acknowledge the generosity of Kelly’s Eurospar and Walsh’s Hotel for providing refreshments during the wake. Sincere thanks also to the ladies who assisted with the wake; your kindness and assistance were greatly appreciated.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the medical staff at Maghera Health Centre for the care, dedication, and attention they provided to Granda over many years, and to Dr Hillen for her support and compassion to the family at the time of John’s passing. We also gratefully acknowledge the assistance of the Ambulance Service and the PSNI, whose professionalism and kindness were greatly appreciated at a most difficult time.
As a family, we are especially grateful to Watty Graham’s GAC for their outstanding support, from the U14 stewards who assisted at the wake, to those who helped with traffic management during the funeral cortege, and the wonderful ladies who provided refreshments in the club afterwards. Your generosity brought great comfort to us all.
We would also like to thank the St. Patrick’s College and Maghera Day Centre communities who shared treasured memories and heartfelt tributes. We know John would have been deeply humbled by the sentiments expressed.
Our sincere gratitude goes to Michael and Nicholas Gormley of J. A. Gormley Funeral Directors, Maghera and Coleraine, for the dignified and professional manner in which they carried out the funeral arrangements. We also thank those who prepared John’s final resting place, and we are truly grateful for your care, kindness, and personal attention.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgment as a token of our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude.
John’s month's mind mass will be celebrated on Friday 12th June at 7.30pm in St. Patrick’s Church, Glen.
