Acknowledgement from the family of the late Tom Halferty

Mary, Niamh and Conall the family of the late Tom Halferty wish to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all those who sympathised with us in the untimely passing of a much loved husband, father and grandfather and a friend to many.

The support and presence of family, friends and neighbours who visited Tom during his illness has been a significant source of comfort to us all and for that we are truly grateful

We are indebted for the spiritual support and guidance provided by Fr. Eamon Graham who visited Tom regularly during his illness and in the celebration of his requiem mass and a special thanks to Una Mc Gill and the Underwood family for providing the music and singing. We also thank the readers, those who did the prayers of the faithful, the Eucharistic ministers and the sacristans who enhanced the funeral mass.

We are so grateful to relatives, friends and neighbours who called to our home sent mass cards, sympathy cards, letters of condolence, texts, and posted tributes on social media and to those who brought food and refreshments during Tom’s illness and to the wake and many thanks to those who helped serve tea and sandwiches to the mourners

We thank all those who gathered outside our home on the morning of the funeral, those along the route of the funeral cortège and to those who attended the funeral and a special thanks to those who travelled long distances from within Ireland and abroad and to those who watched the funeral via webcam

We are indebted to those who provided guards of honour at the chapel Erin’s Own Lavey, Termoneeney Running club and the staff and children of Derrychrin PS.

A big thanks to the members of Erin’s Own Lavey who looked after the traffic control car parking and lighting during the wake

We would like to thank the dedication of Dr’s Mc Neill, Monaghan and Faulkner and the District nurses of Maghera Health Centre who provided exceptional care to Tom during his illness also to the Marie Curie team and to the staff of Glasses pharmacy

A special word of thanks to Michael and Nicholas Gormley of JA Gormley funeral directors Maghera and Coleraine for their competent and professional manner in the handling of the funeral arrangements and to the grave diggers who took care in the preparation of Tom’s final resting place

Thanks to Lavey GAC for the use of their facilities  and to all those who helped serve refreshments following the burial and to Seamus and Mary Dillon for the food preparation

As it is impossible to thank everyone individually who supported us during this difficult period we trust that this acknowledgment will be accepted as a token of our sincere appreciation

Tom’s months mind Mass was celebrated on Friday 29th December @ 7pm in St. Mary’s Church, Lavey.
