Updated: Apr 13
Shane's parents Marian and Seamus with his brothers and sister wish to shows thanks for the support and generosity we received from family, friends, neighbours, locals shops and the community during his passing. We wish to thank those who attended Shane's wake and funeral. Those who travelled long distances to be with us and all who offered support and condolences at the time. We are grateful to everyone who sent mass cards, sympathy cards and who contacted us during this sad time. We have gained great comfort in reading the letters we have been sent from Shane's friends from all over. Thank you to those who have left donations towards Marie Curie.
We want to thank everyone who helped in anyway during the wake, to those who served and to Joe and Tony Doherty who assisted with chairs, heaters and Marquee set up during the wake.
Shane was supported by a number of health professionals during his illness. Thanks to the doctors and staff at the Cancer Centre in Belfast and more recently a thank you for the support shown by Maghera Medical centre staff. A special thanks to the staff in Antrim Area Hospital (A4) who cared for Shane remarkably in the last few days and who supported us as a family throughout his time there.
Special Thanks to Fr John Connolly (of Moy Parish) who celebrated a beautiful mass at St Patrick's Chapel, Glen and Fr P Doherty and Fr Kieran O'Doherty for Co-celebrating the funeral mass and delivering prayers during the wake. Thanks to Alison McAuley (Bradley) for the beautiful singing during the funeral service.
We are truly thankful of the professional and sensitive manner in which Mickey and the team at J A Gormley funeral directors carried out the wake, funeral and cremation arrangements. They were on hand to help guide us through each step of the way during a difficult time.
Prayers were offered for Shane over Easter weekend during the online service and there was no month mind mass due to the coronavirus situation.
