Acknowledgement from the family of the late Joseph McGuckin R.I.P.

Updated: Sep 4

The brothers, sisters and extended family of the late Joseph Patrick McGuckin (RIP) wish to express their sincere gratitude to all who sympathised with them on the sad loss of a much loved brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, friend and neighbour.

We appreciate and thank all those who called at the home, telephoned, sent Mass cards, sympathy cards, floral tributes, posted messages of condolence on social media, brought gifts or helped in any way. Thank you to the many relatives,

neighbours, friends and wider community who lined the route of the funeral cortege to pay their respects, attended the Requiem Mass or joined us via the church webcam.

We would especially like to thank Fr P Madden PP for his spiritual support and guidance, Fr D McGirr for his pastoral care and support and celebrating the Requiem Mass and Fr McGinley for his prayers and visit to the family home. Thanks also to Una McGill for the beautiful music and singing, to Margaret (church sacristan) and Brigid for preparing the church and to all who participated in the funeral liturgy.

Our grateful thanks is extended to the doctors, nurses and staff at Maghera Medical Centre, the staff at Glass’s Pharmacy, the medical team at Antrim Area Hospital, the Cookstown District nurses, the Hospice and Marie Curie nursing teams and all the carers. We appreciate your dedication, compassion, support and kindness to Joseph during his short illness.

Our gratitude is also extended to Michael and Nicholas Gormley, J A Gormley, Funeral Directors, for the professional, compassionate and dignified manner in which the funeral arrangements were carried out and also to John O’Neill for the preparation of the grave.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually we trust this acknowledgement will be accepted as an expression of our deepest appreciation. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.

The Month’s Mind Mass for Joseph was celebrated on Friday 3 September at 11.00 am in St Mary’s Church, Coolcalm, Desertmartin and was live streamed via the church webcam, https://www.churchservices.tv/desertmartin
